Oasis Materials was founded in 2005 in response to an unfilled need for high watt density, rapid temperature transition, and extreme thermal uniformity heating technology. Oasis products employ a highly thermally conductive Aluminum Nitride Ceramic matrix with internal tungsten resistance traces to create an expansion matching, chemically bonded structure that can achieve power densities in excess of 2000 watts/sq. in. The keys to the Oasis line of Rapid-Fire heaters are the expansion matching materials it employs and the multi-layer co-fired process used to produce its product.
Oasis Heaters enable applications requiring extreme temperature transition since minimal stress is exerted due to the expansion matching of its component materials. The material system is highly engineered providing a chemical bond between the ceramic and metal traces when sintered. This bond allows the tungsten traces to act like re-bar to significantly improve the strength of the heater. Due to the strength and the co-efficient of thermal expansion match of our material system, the result is a very reliable and compliant heater. This system is so robust that we have applications where the customer transitions over a 200°C temperature change every 10 seconds and our heaters run in excess of a million cycles without failure.
Complex 3-D circuitry and dimensional configurations, along with internal cooling channels and vacuum and gas transfer passages, are readily achievable. Additionally, multiple heater traces and temperature sensing (RTD) traces can be included in the design providing substantial design flexibility. Oasis also has secondary processing including lapping for customizing flatness and surface finishes, dicing for tight length and width tolerances, brazing for component assembly and pin/tab attach of electrical connections.
Oasis also possesses thermal and CFD modeling capabilities to aid our customers in all phases of their design process. We typically work closely with our customer’s engineering team to fully define the performance requirements and through a phased approach including modelling, design, prototype and test, develop a product which achieves the customer’s goals.
